The Abominable Snowman Ray Harryhausen had planned this idea during the mid 50's and almost saw the light of day during the filming of Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger but he never manage to sell the idea to Charles Schneer. One idea from this project was going to be used in Sinbad and the eye of the tiger, Sinbad was going to fight a Yeti instead of the Walrus but the idea was denied at one of their sweat sessions.
Aesop's Fables Ray had intended to do more of these fairy tales, but the only one he made was The Tortoise and the Hare, which started in 1952 and was finally completed in 2003.
Atlantis
The legend of the lost city of Atlantis had always intrigued Ray Harryhausen for many years. During the 1930 's he created two drawings and a outline that is now lost according to him. The two drawings depicted giant Dinosaurs attacking the fabled city of Atlantis among classical type of buildings with volcanoes erupting in the background.
BeoWulf This idea was based on a mythical adventure that was first spoke about during 1960 between Ray and Charles. The idea seemed uncommercial and thus never got beyond the simple idea. It was again brought up in 1971 with Ray and Michael Winner but again because of its lack of commercial attraction the idea was completely forgotten.
CONAN Soon after Gwangi Ray considered the stories of Robert E. Howard, The Hyborian world seemed perfect for Dynamation. Perhaps of the rights situation or maybe because the idea was not right for them the whole thing was dropped, and he started to write the basics of The Golden Voyage of Sinbad.
Daniel in the lion's den Ray was going to make this part of the Fairy Tales series despite it being a story from the Old Testament, there was no storyline but he did create a complete set of rough storyboards.
Dante's Inferno This was going to be a Harryhausen extravaganza! with people turned to trees, harpies flying around in through the woods in the underworld, bat people, a minotaur, tormented souls pushing bags of gold up a hill being attacked by serpents, this would have been influenced by Gustav Dore'. But the cost of all these effects would have been astronomical, one of the reasons this project was never realized.
Daphnis and Chloe
At about the same time at that "Evolution" was being created Ray made a model of a satyr that eventually would be the prototype for the Cyclops from The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, he had planned to set the story based on the music of Ravel with a few notes, but only those notes and that model survive from this idea.
Deluge After the completion of One Million Years BC, Ray had suggested the idea to Michael Carreras at Hammer Films. When Ray was very young he had seen the 1933 film that was based on a novel. An adventure that concentrated on the post-civilization world breaking down into lawlessness, setting the action in London instead of New York with the catastrophe as the centerpiece of the film. This project would have included a great flood and a earthquake, the project was forgotten and lost, today all that Ray has of this is a sketch of a giant tidal wave and some notes.
Dickory Dickory Dock This was another story part of the Fairy Tales series and one which was to have been a segment of a further set of "Mother Goose" stories that Ray was trying to develop during the summer and autumn of 1946."
