Ugala
Another lost world scenario right after the completion of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms and before Ray met Charles. It told of a scientist who organizes and expedition by means of a helicopter to the lost canyon of Boranca de Cobra in Mexico where he finds 13-foot men, dinosaurs and fights a giant spider. The project did not procede beyond a few pages and there were no drawings to visualize it.
The Visitation
Here is the actual script of this project written by Ray's friend Cecil Maiden;
A ship is found drifting in the Pacific ocean with no one on board. The story flashes back to the people on the ship witnessing the crashing into the sea of a flying saucer. They manage to haul the craft on board and during the cover of night an evil presence emerges from the interior. This entity breeds evil and slowly the crew and passengers discover their dark side emerging and taking over the good side. In the end amid the much killing and chaos another entity is discovered on board the saucer and it turns out to be all that is good. The good being restrains the evil one and tells the three people left on aboard that he is an alien and they have been observing Earth. On his planet their good and evil have separated to become two beings with good dominating evil. The alien returns to the skies with the three earthlings to teach them to return to Earth and educate mankind to do good.
War Eagles
In 1938 the project began when Merian C Cooper began preparations for another fantasy to rival Kong, Obie was brought onboard to design and create effects and Ernest Schoedsack would direct from a script by Cecil Hume. The project fell into trouble when Cecil had to do three re-writes altering the hero from a professor into a pilot. Eventually the production was shelved in March of 1940.
When the Earth Cracked Open
After 1 Million Years B.C this project began its life..here is the basic outline;
It was to open with a montage showing Earth's pre-history from the Ice Age to the early Neanderthal man, which takes to the river people whose leader is Rabbala. One day, whilst the men are fishing the Fire Warriors, led by Za' Ama attack the camp. killing the old men and children, and take the women. Rabbala and his men follow through the Posion Swamp where they encounter strange creatures ( Ray was to animate a swamp creature with tentacles and a giant toad). Meanwhile the Fire Warriors make their way across a desert, and when the River People follow, they are faced with a giant Sand Crab which leads them to a chasmic gorge. Once on the other side then find themselves in a dense jungle where they are attacked by giant soldier ants and are saved only by a rainstorm that sweeps the creatures away. As though that wasn't enough, they encounter a lake of salt and sulphur in which lurks a serpent and a Primord-Reptille that was described as a cross between a gorilla and a lizard. Finally the River People catch up with the Fire Warriors in their home-an active-volcano-and by pushing huge rocks into the volcano they create an eruption. During the confusion Raballa and his men are reunited with their women and escape across an ever-widening chasm, into crumbles the volcano and the Fire Warriors.
