Collecting the Cyclops

The Cyclops is one of the most recognized creature that Ray created, he started in the cult favorite The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. So here we go first lets start with the Chess Pieces.

Chess Pieces

The first Series Chess Piece of the Cyclops stands 4" made of resin.

This second piece of the Cyclops which resembles the second Cyclops that appears toward the end of the film, this one has two horns on his head and is the one that fights against the Dragon and gets killed.

The third chess piece is very rare, he looks a bit different that the other two and carries his giant spiked club on its had. The piece is a bit slimmer that the first two.

All the Chess Pieces cost about $9.00-$10.00 and are very easy to find with the exception of the third one, it might be sold out as I haven't seen it at the local miniature stores lately.

Vinyl Figures

The other bigger collectibles are the Vinyl Figures they stand at 8" tall way taller than the chess pieces and with a bit more detail. Only one vinyl figure of the Cyclops has ever been released. This piece is made of high quality PVC plastic, the legs, arms, head and torso articulate. It stands about 8' inches tall, this piece will cost you at about $12-$15 dollars at most collectible sites and stores.

Model Kits

Perhaps the best interpretation of Harryhausen's Cyclops, one that even Ray himself was noted by saying, "The best interpretation of my character I've ever seen!" The kit stands at 17" tall and 12" wide, wide and is superbly cast in both solid and rotocast parts, with minimal cleanup and assembly. The was sculpted by Joseph Laudati, one amazing kit to add to your collection but pricy at $189.99 U.S dollars its pretty up there but well worth it!

The rest of the miniatures are not for sale as far as I know these were created by different sculptors and may not be on sale, which is a shame because these are simply amazing!
