After the men rescue Lope from the Pterodactyl they go deeper into the Forbidden Valley and stumble upon a Ornithomimus another creature long to have been extinct who appears to be eating some kind of prey or fruit on top of a giant bolder. The small dinosaur disappears behind the rocks and the men start to chase the creature and try to capture it apparently for TJ's Wild West Show, the Ornithomimus starts to run away from them and leads them further into the the strange landscape. The men almost capture the Dino but out of nowhere the mighty Gwangi appears and snatches the Ornithomimus in its jaws, the creature roars in pain as Gwangi tears into his flesh.

 

 

The Dinosaur is kiled and Gwangi eats its dead carcass. The men turn back and rush back to safety but Gwangi is not far behind... 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Ornithomimus Facts

 

  • The Ornithomimus had never been seen on the cinema screen before till The Valley of Gwangi.

 

  • This creature was based on a prehistoric ostrich-like creature that grew to about 11 feet long and could move at up to 50kph. It was the creature's ability to run fast and its size the encourage Ray to animate him in the film and use him as an intro to Gwangi.
