The Roc was a giant Vulture with two heads that lived and nested on the peaks of the dangerous island of Colossa, its egg shell was the key to cure princess Parissa from the evil spell casted upon her by Sokurah.

 

 

After battling and surviving a fight against the first Cyclops and defeating him, Sinbad and his men including Sokurah reach the peaks of Colossa and find the nesting place of the Roc. But two of the men that survived the dangers of Colossa are dying of starvation and decide to break open the egg of a yet unborn baby Roc. They kill the baby roc and end up eating him. Soon their hunger is their very demise as the mother Roc returns to find her baby bird dead, the Roc attacks Sinbad and kills both of the last survivors which are tossed from the cliff to the rocks below by the giant bird. In the midst of the commotion the Roc takes Sinbad in its claws and flies away with him to her nest on a high peak. Sokurah also kills Harufa steals the lamp and takes princess Parissa to his underground Castle and the foot of the mountain right in the center of the Cyclops Domain.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Roc Facts

  • The model for the giant Bird the Roc was actually covered with ordinary bird feathers.

  • When the bird attacks the crew he creates a cloud of dust when it flaps its giant wings, this was achieved by using wind machines during the location shoot..
